Alicat Workboats was established in 2009 to provide high quality aluminium catamarans for turbine transfers and O&M support services.
Alicat Workboats Limited was launched in 2009 to provide high quality aluminium catamaran workboats specifically for the offshore wind energy sector. The workboats are particularly suited to turbine transfers for operation and maintenance crews. They can also be used for ROV and dive support, Marine Mammal Mitigation work and bird observations.
The boats were designed by Global Marine Design (GMD) based in Perth, Australia. The company was chosed as the design has been tried and tested with some 200 vessels already built and in operation. 20m and 17m versions of the Alicat vessel are currently underconstruction.

RDDE and Alicat Workboats share a seven acre site, already with on-site skilled trades and mobile harbour cranes along with a team of electricians and electronics engineers to cover all the servicing requirements of the vessels. Alicat is also looking to establish a facility for repair and maintenance, along side at Great Yarmouth which is close to many offshore wind developments including Round 3 zones.
The company has also purchased a further two acre site on the north side of the Great Yarmouth river that has the potential of becoming a superb windfarm support base. This has some 100m of quayside with refuelling capabilities.
